Varsity Track and Field in midseason form

We had an outstanding week this past week. It started with our first MSAC Jamboree of the season on Wednesday. Our boys finished third overall, and our girls finished fourth overall out of the ten conference teams. We had many outstanding performances and personal records: First Place Finishes: James Rodriguez – 100m, Long Jump Josh Arganbright – 110m Hurdles Ashlyn Binge – Pole Vault Second Place Finishes: Josh Arganbright – 300m Hurdles Jareth Shappee – Discus Saralynn Shelley, Kirstyn Cummings, Ryann Ball, Braleigh Fulk – 4x800m Relay Brooklyn Rauch – Shot Put Third Place Finishes: Tuff Rood – Pole Vault Emma Peterson – Shot Put Brooklyn Rauch – Discus The following student-athletes also achieved new personal records: James Rodriguez (100m, Long Jump), Gavin Aldrich (100m, Discus), Tuff Rood (200m, Pole Vault, Long Jump), Jareth Shappee (400m), Lewis Davidson (400m), Callen Eldred (800m), Kenneth Graham (800m, 1600m), Bryce White (1600m, 3200m), Mason White (1600m, 3200m), Colton Eldred (Shot Put, Discus), Garrett Paulson (Discus), Mia Lumbert (100m), Ashlyn Newcombe (100m, 200m), Sidney Jaquays (100m), Makayla Helmer (Long Jump), Marly Lumbert (200m), Maxie Ludwig (200m, Long Jump), Braleigh Fulk (800m), Isabell Darling (800m, 1600m), Joslyn Clay (Long Jump), Kirstyn Cummings (1600m), Ryann Ball (3200m), Ashlyn Binge (300m Hurdles), Saralynn Shelley (High Jump), Bailey Kelsey (Discus). We then traveled to Lakeview on Friday for the Lakeview Invitational. Despite a weather delay, our student-athletes spent 10+ hours leaving it all on the track. Due to the size of the meet, competing schools were split into three divisions. Both our boys and girls teams finished third overall in their respective divisions, narrowly missing a trophy. The top six in each individual event and top three in each relay earned medals. Shoutout to James Rodriguez (100m, Long Jump) and Josh Arganbright (110m Hurdles), who placed first overall across all divisions. The following athletes earned medals in our division: Josh Arganbright – 1st in 110m Hurdles, 2nd in 300m Hurdles, 2nd in 4x100m Relay, 6th in Pole Vault James Rodriguez – 1st in 100m Dash, 2nd in 4x100m Relay, 1st in 200m Dash, 1st in Long Jump Gabe Kauffman – 6th in 100m Dash, 2nd in 4x100m Relay Tuff Rood – 2nd in 4x100m Relay, 3rd in Pole Vault, 5th in Long Jump Jareth Shappee – 3rd in 400m Dash, 3rd in Discus Gavin Aldrich – 6th in Discus Bryce Willis – 2nd in High Jump Saralynn Shelley – 3rd in 4x800m Relay, 6th in 800m Run, 6th in High Jump Kirstyn Cummings – 3rd in 4x800m Relay, 4th in 1600m Run Ryann Ball – 3rd in 4x800m Relay, 4th in 3200m Run Braleigh Fulk – 3rd in 4x800m Relay, 4th in 800m Run, 4th in High Jump Lexi Curtiss – 3rd in 100m Hurdles, 3rd in 4x100m Relay Ashlyn Binge – 5th in 100m Hurdles, 3rd in 4x100m Relay, 1st in Pole Vault Marly Lumbert – 3rd in 4x100m Relay, 4th in 400m Dash Makayla Helmer – 3rd in 4x100m Relay, 5th in Long Jump Emma Peterson – 2nd in Shot Put, 2nd in Discus Brooklyn Rauch – 4th in Shot Put, 3rd in Discus Sierra Pranger – 5th in Discus Mia Lumbert – 4th in Long Jump The following student-athletes also achieved new personal records: James Rodriguez (200m), Bryce White (3200m), Mason White (3200m), Jareth Shappee (Discus), Gavin Aldrich (Discus), Tuff Rood (Pole Vault), Joslyn Clay (100m Hurdles), Lexi Curtiss (100m Hurdles), Kirstyn Cummings (800m, 1600m), Isabell Darling (1600m), Ryann Ball (3200m), Emma Peterson (Discus), Ashlyn Binge (Pole Vault). A HUGE congratulations to James Rodriguez and Ashlyn Binge! Both student-athletes have hit the Early Qualifier standard in their respective events for the MHSAA D4 State Final on May 30th. James had a jump of 20'8" to secure his spot in the Long Jump. Ashlyn Binge vaulted 9'0" to secure her spot in Pole Vault. Congratulations to both athletes on this amazing accomplishment!
